What's the difference between a database and the library catalog?

Answer

The library catalog lists and describes materials owned by a library. In our case, the catalog primarily tells you what books and ebooks we own. It's your best way to find out what books you can check out.

Park's library is also a member of the MOBIUS library consortium, which gives you access to the catalogs and collections of many other libraries around the Midwest. That's why you'll see two different catalogs on our website.

A database gives you access to a curated set of information, usually journal articles and ebooks. Use our journals to research published information in your subject area. For information about searching our databases more effectively, see our Smarter Searching library guide.
